History:

I purchased T.J. from a pet store in California for $350. I had gone to California from my home in Alaska to pick out a Nape.

My timing was bad as T.J. was the only young Nape for sale that week. T.J. had not been sold because he had been ill. Several months after I bought him, his respiratory problems returned resulting in a vet aspirating his lungs and putting him on antibiotics

T.J. is a very sweet bird, but when he turned 8, I had to pull him from performing for 1 year as his hormonal behavior caused him to be extremely aggressive. The next year he was back to his old sweet self and performing.
As he ages, he enjoys performing more and more. He is not as smart as my other birds, but what he learns he learns very well. He causes few problems and works hard for me.

Cute Moment:

When the others birds would scream, TJ would yell out, "Bad birds. No! No! No!" Then when I would step into the room he let me know he was not part of those misbehaving birds by telling me, "T.J. is a good boy."

The birds do a fashion show as part of the performance.
